job description:

A new concept for in situ/operando investigations that combines simultaneously time- and spatial-resolved XANES (X-ray Near Edge Structure spectroscopy) analyses should be developed. This combination represents an important advance in the field of experimental physics with applicability in numerous fields, such as catalysis and medicine. In order to successfully implement this principle, the candidate will be responsible for the theoretical conception of the measurement setup (including design and calculation of the X-rays path), development and implementation of a new set-up at the BAMline, at the electron storage ring BESSY-II.
 
profile of qualification:
  • university degree in physics, preferably in the field of atomic physics
  • basic knowledge in X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and the application of X-ray detectors are required
  • programming skills in IDL would be of interest
  • good knowledge of German and English written and spoken with the ability to academic writing
  • high level of commitment, cooperation and capacity for teamwork and willingness to self-dependent work 
  • physical resilience (shift operation basis at large scale facilities)
