Postdoc Positions for Research in Optics, Microscopy, and Biophysics

Diese Stellenanzeige ist abgelaufen. Finden Sie hier zahlreiche ähnliche Jobs.

The Max Planck Research Group of Knut Drescher is looking for

postdocs, to start in early 2015.

The lab is located at the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology in Marburg, Germany. The lab also maintains close connections to the Department of Physics of the Philipps University Marburg.

The research will use methods from optics, microscopy, and biophysics to understand how bacteria form multicellular communities known as “biofilms”. The projects will involve the development of novel microscopy techniques and the application of these microscopy techniques to imaging bacterial biofilms. Bacterial biofilms play an important role in infections and medical environments, because they are inherently resistant to antibiotics and cells within biofilms display cellular differentiation reminiscent of development in higher organisms. Other members of the lab have backgrounds in biophysics, molecular biology, and evolutionary biology, which reflect the interdisciplinary nature of our research.
