Within an Emmy Noether Independent Junior Research Group, the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering, Institute of Materials Science, Chair of Materials Science and Nanotechnology offers a fixed term position as
 
Research Fellow
in the field of Condensed Matter Theory/Solid State Physics
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
 
with 75% of the fulltime weekly hours. The position starts at the earliest possible date and is limited for 3 years. The period of employment is governed by § 2 Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).
The Research Group, headed by Dr. Frank Ortmann, is also active within the Dresden Center for Computational Materials Science, which integrates the activities of more than 20 chairs of TU Dresden and various research centres in Dresden to one of the leading hubs of computational materials research worldwide.
Tasks: theoretical modelling and computer simulations of electronic properties and quantum transport in molecular materials.
Requirements: excellent university degree (Master or equivalent) in Physics, to be completed at the time of employment; experience in theoretical condensed matter physics as well as in computer simulations; good communication and writing skills in English. We are looking for highly motivated candidates with interest in developing novel methods and cooperation with experimentalists. Knowledge of ab initio simulations and electronic transport methodologies will be of advantage.
