We are interested in investigating the function and regulation of microtubule networks in mammalian cells. Microtubules are required for various functions in cells, including cell division, intracellular trafficking, and cell migration. Misregulation of microtubule dynamics and stability is thought to contribute to cancer progression by promoting chromosomal instability in mitosis, and potentially also by misregulation of cell migration promoting tumor cell invasion.
We primarily investigate these problems in human cancer and non-transformed cell lines, as well as mouse embryonic stem cells, using a combination of novel genetic techniques, advanced live-cell fluorescence microscopy, and quantitative interaction proteomics.
