Center for Cardiovascular Research

There has never been a more opportune time to tackle complex questions in integrative physiology in general and cardiovascular physiology in particular. The cardiovascular system has the inherent advantage that the in vivo integrated functional endpoints are readily quantifiable, largely conserved across species and can be directly linked to human biology and disease. The current arsenal of post-genome technology, databases and multiple model organisms are likely to play increasingly important roles to undertake such complex questions. To tackle some of them we apply large-scale (e.g. gene trap mutagenesis, gene expression profiling, yeast-2-hybird analysis) as well as hypothesis-driven (e.g. biochemistry, immunocytochemistry, phenotyping of mouse mutants) approaches.
