Division of Immunology, Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dept of Dermatology, University of Vienna

The Division of Immunology, Allergy, and Infectious Diseases (Chair: Prof. Dr. G. Stingl) at the Department of Dermatology of the University of Vienna covers a broad spectrum of research topics including the exploration of maturation and migration pathways of dendritic cells, the development of innovative anti-tumor vaccination strategies, the biology of cutaneous lymphatic endothelium, and the mechanisms of tumor metastasis. Within the last years, researchers of the DIAID could make several significant scientific contributions to these fields, e.g. demonstrated by several publications in highly ranked international journals. Many of these studies are running in or are made in cooperation with academic-based research programs and groups. Among these, the participation in the competence center ”Biomolecular Therapeutics” (BMT), the project grant (Spezialforschungsbereich) of the Austrian Science Foundation, and the ”Interdisciplinary Cooperation Project” (ICP) sponsored by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science, and Culture as well as by the City of Vienna deserve special mentioning. With research laboratories located at the Vienna’s General Hospital (Allgemeines Krankenhaus, AKH) and the Vienna International Research Cooperation Center (VIRCC) the DIAID has access to large and well-equipped research units.
