Supramolecular Chemistry Group

The Supramolecular Chemistry group ( www.sc.ugent.be ) was founded in July 2010 and has currently ~10 researchers. Our research is regularly published in renowned internation journals.

The research of the group focuses on three main themes:
1. The usage and development of (chiral) poly(2-oxazoline)s as biomaterials and substitutes for PEGylation;
2. Smart responsive polymers. This research includes the development of molecule responsive polymers, polymeric sensors as well as polymer self-assembly;
3. Supramolecular polymers, including the development of novel (aqueous) supramolecular binding sites, adaptive supramolecular materials as well as self-healing materials.

The group is embedded in the Department of Organic Chemistry and has acess to a large variety of equipment ranging from 500 MHz NMR spectrometers and MALDI-TOF MS to an automated parallel synthesis robot.
