DFG-funded Graduiertenkolleg (GRK 1657):
“Molecular and cellular responses to ionizing radiation”
The graduate college provides an excellent interdisciplinary environment for research in molecular radiation biology together with a comprehensive education curriculum in this field. Research is focusing on different aspects of the molecular and cellular responses and molecular targets of ionizing irradiation and is supported by the Technische Universität Darmstadt (Departments of Biology, Chemistry and Physics), the Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung (GSI) and the Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology at the University of Frankfurt. Please note: for more details.
At the Technische Universität Darmstadt, we offer one PhD scholarship for the duration of 3 years, starting May 1st, 2014.
Applications in the fields of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, with an experimental background, will be considered. Successful candidates will have an excellent Diploma or Master degree in Biochemistry or Cell Biology; experience in the cultivation of mammalian cells and in fluorescence spectroscopy/microscopy would be of advantage.
The here offered PhD position is in the project 2c, Prof. Dr. Norbert A. Dencher, studying the interplay of ionizing radiation, membrane-active peptides, and mitochondria.
The application deadline is April 17th 2014.
It is necessary that the selected candidate starts his position May 1th 2014!
