Technische Universtität Braunschweig
The Department of Bioinformatics & Biochemistry was established in 2007 as one of the divisions of the Institute for Biochemistry and Biotechnology (founded in 1972). In 2007, Prof. Dr. Dietmar Schomburg founded the Department as its new director, introducing the research focus of bioinformatics, systems biology and metabolome analysis.
Curation of BRENDA, one of the most important biological databases worldwide, is another focus of the department.
Spanning a very broad range from basic biochemistry and microbiology to systems biology, the Department is well equipped to embark into the challenges of cutting egde experimental and bioinformatics research.
