SFB 829 "Molecular mechanisms regulating skin homeostasis" is a research network at the University of Cologne that focuses on different aspects of skin biology. The network consists of 18 groups from different departments in the Medical and Natural Science Faculty of as well as groups from the Max Planck Institute for the Biology of Ageing and the German Sport University, both located in Cologne. Each group uses its specific expertise to address questions that cover cellular and molecular aspects of skin homeostasis ranging from signalling pathways, adhesion, extracellular matrix, cytoskeleton, DNA damage repair, inflammation to intercellular communications.
