University of Giessen Lung Center
The UGLC is a collaborative research initiative at the Justus-Liebig-University of Giessen promoting translational lung research. Researchers and clinicians systematically transform cutting edge laboratory research into clinical applications for the benefit of patient health and medical care. The successful exchange of interdisciplinary expertise is stimulated by the proximity of laboratories, modern equipment, and patient care facilities. Additionally, clinical medicine and pulmonary research are complemented with a strong emphasis on education in respiratory medicine and molecular biology.
The UGLC is part of the Justus-Liebig University, Giessen, Germany and its Medical School. Located on the campus of the University Hospital of Giessen and Marburg, Giessen Campus, it is in close proximity of the Philipps-University, Marburg, the Max-Planck Heart and Lung Institute, Bad Nauheim and the Goethe-University, Frankfurt, as well as Frankfurt International Airport.
The UGLC comprises 12 institutes and centers dedicated to research and treatment of a broad range of lung diseases with a strong interest in scientific education in the pulmonary sciences. The Chairmen and the Board of Directors are responsible for planning, managing, and coordinating the activities of all UGLC components.
