Shaken Bioreactor Group
Shaken bioreactors have successfully been used for biotechnological development work for many decades. Even though shaken bioreactors are in such common use they have not yet been satisfactorily investigated. Indeed, it must be ensured that the experiments undertaken in shaken bioreactors are carried out under suitable and consistent conditions. Therefore, we focused our research in this field on characterisation of the culture conditions in small scale culture systems and development of new measuring devices.
Fermentation and Bioreactor Technology
The research area Fermentation and Bioreactor Technology is primarily concerned with the examination of mass transfer phenomena in bioreactors. Additional aspects are fluid dynamics as well as balancing, control, modelling and simulation of biological processes
The aims of the research group Enzyme Technology are the development of reaction systems for enzymatic catalysis in non-conventional environments and the mechanistic analysis of the processes in these reaction systems. The rational design of such biotransformations requires a detailed knowledge about the system, both at microscopic and macroscopic level.
