Major Responsibilities To influence the use and evaluation of Poros Industrial biochromatography resins in Downstream process development groups of Pharmaceutical and Biotech organisations. The end goal is to ensure that Poros gets chosen for use in the purification of clincal biopharmaceutical candidates. The role requires selling at all levels with the technical, manufacturing and commercial stakeholders all requiring a distinct sales approach in these organisations. Manage Key Accounts with key influencers based in the region, some of which may span to other global geographies. Together with Sr. Business Manager, build and execute a plan for market development in the region. Competes for all existing and develops new sales opportunities within the territory to meet or exceed targets. Maintain and grow business within existing key accounts. Gathers, analyzes and delivers information from the field to allow Life Technologies to develop strategies and new products appropriate to the Poros business. Work closely with the Poros Field Applications group to ensure the correct support allocation to key evaluations and projects in the region. Provide accurate forecast and lost order reporting as well as competitive information on a regular basis. A PhD position for 3 years is available at the Institutes of Molecular Medicine and Experimental Immunology (IMMEI), University of Bonn Medical School, Germany. According to current views, innate immune cells contribute to the immune defense against pathogens, for example by producing chemokines or by eating apoptotic neutrophils that have phagocytosed such pathogens. There has recently been much speculation on how macrophages and neutrophils migrate within inflamed organs and cooperate with each other to combat infections, but a coherent model is missing. Thus, we aim to elucidate the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which immune cells migrate and cooperate within inflamed organs. These finding will provide new insights into the regulation of immune responses and the potential modulation of these innate immune responses. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, team-oriented graduate with a strong interest in innate immunity, cell migration and immune responses against pathogens. Experience with animal experimentation, cell culture and molecular biology techniques is advantageous. Candidates should hold a diploma or a master’s degree in Bio-Medicine, Biology, or a related subject. The PhD position will be integrated into the THEME PhD Program of the University of Bonn Medical School. We offer supportive mentoring and a well-equipped laboratory. We are looking for a motivated PhD student in order to reinforce our research team. Our research group is part of the interdisciplinary pediatric research center of the Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital (Ludwig-Maximilian’s University), the main center for the hospital’s intensive clinical and basic research. Focus of the pediatric surgery research laboratories within the research center is on basic sciences of oncological research. In essence, we investigate the genetic and biological makeup and interaction of childhood cancers with the goal to establish new and innovative treatment strategies. The team works very closely with a multitude of clinical and basic science researchers and clinicians within the University’s Children’s Hospital. We offer a full PhD position with an initial contract for a period of 2 years which will be prolonged depending on the candidates individual perspectives and wishes as well as the scientific progress. We offer the posibility for the candidate to spend extra time in a laboratory in a foreign country, preferably the USA, in order to increase the input in our lab. Also, we support the candidate for travel to international conferences relevant to our field.  The project offered here bases in the characterization of entirely novel approaches for anti-tumor strategies against childhood cancer. We will investigate how targeted therapy of defined receptors with small molecules causes inhibition of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in order to provoke and thereby induce apoptosis of cancer stem cells. Especial focus is laid on tumors that overexpress the WNT/β-catenin signaling pathway, for example, due to a genetic mutation. This includes all but is not limited to embryonic solid childhood tumors such as neuroblastoma, the hepatoblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, nephroblastoma, as well as the infantile and the adult hepatocellular carcinoma. Munich offers an attractive network of scientific research institutions, in particular the research network of the Ludwig-Maximilian’s University. International applicants are especially welcome, and while proficiency of the German language is desired, it is not mandatory for this position. If German is not the applicant’s first language, however, outstanding proficiency of the English language both at day-to-day level communication as well as scientifically is obligatory. In der Klinik für Gastroenterologie, Hepatologie und Endokrinologie an der Medizinischen Hochschule Hannover ist zum 01.07.2013 die Stelle eines

zu besetzen. Im Zentrum unserer wissenschaftlichen Arbeit stehen Fragen zur molekularen Pathogenese von Tumorerkrankungen. Insbesondere interessieren wir uns für die Regulation des programmierten Zelltodes (Apoptose) und der Proliferation von Hepatozyten im Rahmen chronischer Lebererkrankungen. Die Untersuchungen werden mit Hilfe verschiedener molekularbiologischer, biochemischer und immunhistochemischer Methoden unter Verwendung von knockout/  transgenen/ Xenograft- Mausmodellen und in vitro Modellen durchgeführt. Die Arbeiten umfassen unter anderem Tätigkeiten mit genetisch manipulierten Mäusen und primären Zellkulturen, Immuhistochemie, FACS-Analyse, RT-PCR, Western-blot, Immunopräzipitation, Chromatin-Immuno-Präzipitation (CHIP), CGH-Analysen und Mircoarray-Analysen.    Wir bieten ein wissenschaftlich attraktives Umfeld in einer modernen Arbeitsgruppe mit hervorragender Ausstattung. Specific responsibilities include: The position holder is a Subject Matter Expert in the area of the production of Solutions, suspensions, creams and ointments. He/she has knowledge of sterile manufacturing and the associated requirements. The position holder is responsible for and specialized in topics like product introduction and technology transfer, process improvement, process validation, analytical method transfer. The position holder will concentrate his/her activities primarily on the support of the Manufacturing Division of MSD Animal Health production plants which are producing Liquids and Semi-Liquids. The position holder acts as a team leader and is held responsible for the performance and/or start-up of a new and/or difficult process technology assignment. The manufacturing sites that are supported by the person in this position include those within the Animal Health Pharma region including third parties producing Animal Health Pharma products (across Europe).
