Activities and responsibilities

The DFG-fun­ded pro­ject is ded­ic­ated to study molecu­lar mech­an­isms of the mat­ur­a­tion and the cata­lytic func­tion of com­plex metal cen­ters in enzymes, such as hydro­genases. The meth­ods to be employed include vibra­tional spec­tro­scopic tech­niques i.a. in com­bin­a­tion with elec­tro­chem­ical meth­ods. The stud­ies are integ­rated into the inter­dis­cip­lin­ary DFG pri­or­ity pro­gram “Iron-Sul­fur for Life” and will be car­ried out in tight col­lab­or­a­tion with other research groups of the con­sor­tium. The pos­i­tions are asso­ci­ated with the pos­sib­il­ity to attain a PhD.

Qualification profile

Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) prefer­ably in chem­istry, phys­ics, bio­chem­istry, bio­phys­ics, or bio­tech­no­logy. Exper­i­ence in spec­tro­scopic or/and elec­tro­chem­ical tech­niques; flex­ib­il­ity, abil­ity to work inde­pend­ently and within a team; interest in inter­dis­cip­lin­ary work and bio­lo­gical research top­ics; very good Eng­lish and/or Ger­man lan­guage pro­fi­ciency.
