Postdoc New Genomic Techniques in Plant Breeding
Activities and responsibilities
- plan, organise and implement investigations employing new genomic techniques (genome editing) in plants;
- investigate and evaluate the potential applications and impacts of new genomic techniques;
- write scientific publications, research reports and present the results;
- provide guidance to technical staff, Ph.D. students, etc;
- provide statements on applications for the deliberate release of GMOs in accordance with the German Genetic Engineering Act (GenTG).
Qualification profile
- a university degree with a focus on biotechnology, molecular biology or related disciplines;
- experience with current techniques of genome editing in plants, e.g. as part of a doctorate or as a postdoc;
- sound knowledge in the field of plant biotechnology, molecular biology and/or genetic engineering as well as the relevant methods including bioinformatic tools (e.g. CRISPR/Cas; protoplasty; sequence analyses);
- strong communication and teamworking skills;
- good organisational skills and you are able to work self-employed;
- good written and oral language skills in German and English;
- if possible, experience in raising third party project funds;
- preferably background knowledge in agriculture and plant breeding;
- if possible, a certificate of competence according to §28 GenTSV;
- a class III (B) driving licence and the willingness to undertake business trips.

- a full-time job with 39.0 hours per week for a limited period of 3 years. Generally, various forms of part-time employment are possible. The time limit of 3 years is in accordance with § 2 para. 1 Act of Academic Fixed-term Contract (WissZeitVG). The employment relationship is based on the collective agreement for the public service (TVöD).
- remuneration according to salary group E 13 TVöD.
