Biochemist, Biologist, Pharmacist, Veterinarian as Postdoctoral Research Fellow (m/f)


The Institute of Physiology and Pathophysiology is part of the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University. The scientists of the Institute participate in various national and international collaborative research projects and teach the subject of physiology to about 450 students of medicine and dentistry annually. Research focuses on the physiology and pathophysiology of the cardiovascular, muscular and nervous system.
The Division of Cardiovascular Physiology at the Institute of Physiology and Pathophysiology offers the following position, to be filled as soon as possible:

Postdoctoral Research Fellow (m/f)

The contract will be for an initial period of two years with the possibility of extension for at least one more year.
The successful candidate will join the group of Prof. Dr. Thomas Korff to work on hypertension-induced arterial remodeling.
Candidate’s qualification:
We are looking for a young researcher who enjoys interactive teamwork in the field of cardiovascular biology / medicine and has a qualified PhD or equivalent degree in the life sciences, preferably biochemistry, (human) biology, pharmacy or veterinary medicine. In-depth knowledge of modern cell and molecular biology methods as well as experience in animal physiology, handling and experimentation (FELASA B) is a must.
Applicants should also have a good command of the English and German language and should be able to guide and supervise MD/PhD students in their research projects. The new team member will be strongly encouraged to bring in his or her own ideas for scientific projects that fit into the overall research concept of the group and the division.
Group and Working Environment
Our international division consists of 6 principal investigators, 4 postdocs and about 20 PhD and MD students. Heidelberg, home to Germany’s oldest University and one of the premier centers of biomedical research in Europe, provides ample opportunity for scientific exchange not only within the University, but with other renowned research institutions as well.
