The German Diabetes Center (DDZ) is a Leibniz Institute for diabetes research at the Heinrich-Heine- University (HHU) Düseldorf. The DDZ as interdisciplinary research institute links molecular and cell biological basic research with clinical and epidemiological research approaches. The DDZ has the aim to develop new approaches to prevention, early detection and diagnosis of Diabetes mellitus and to improve the therapy of Diabetes mellitus and the treatment of its complications. The German Diabetes Center is a member of the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) which is funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research.
