Research er /Postdoc position
The Institute of Biotechnology at Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg) is research partner of the biomedical network of Gesundheitscampus Brandenburg. For the department of multiparameter diagnostics located in Senftenberg (Chair Prof. Peter Schierack) we announce a research assistant/Postdoc position to work on a new ProFIT/EFRE project which will be performed in collaboration with the company GA Generic Assays GmbH.
The Postdoc position is available for the development of a new automated and standardized system for the detection and quantification of bacteria using digital image analysis. This will be realized by using our platform technology VideoScan which is based on fluorescence microscopy and developed at the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. The project contains different aspects e.g., detection of bacteria using FISH probes or antibodies, detection and analysis of biofilms, adhesion and invasion of bacteria in in vitro cell assays.
Qualified applicants with doctor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, medicine or related fields have broad expertise in microbiology, molecular biology, immunofluorescence and cell culture techniques. Candidates are expected to publish new scientific results in peer-reviewed journals and to establish external funding based on the results of this project. The successful candidate is expected to supervise international PhD students and biotechnology bachelor and master students. Thus language skills in both German and English are required. Candidates with teaching experience are also welcome to apply.
The position (TVL-E13; 100%) is available starting September 1th 2017 and financed until May 30th 2020. Based on further funding, contract extension is possible.
