About us
This Research Training Group GRK2062 “Molecular Principles of Synthetic Biology” brings together junior researchers from biology, che­mistry and physics, who work in the emerging field of Synthetic Biology. It provides an inno­vative, integrated and international PhD training program. Funded by the DFG, the Research Training Group is a joint initiative by leading scientists from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich as well as from the Technical University Munich (TUM) and the Max-Planck Institute of Biochemistry.
Projects range from the development of synthetic proteins, to synthetic switches as well as artificial cells and even the creation of cell free synthetic-biological systems. The aim is to gain a deeper understanding of the intricate functionality of cells, organisms and even eco­systems and thus contribute to the analysis and treatment of complex diseases as well as to the development of novel biotechnological processes.

What we expect
We are looking for highly motivated candidates of all nationalities who are strongly committed to research. If you want to join us please apply until November 17th 2016 via our online appli­ca­tion platform. Positions are to be filled as soon as possible.
The Research Training Group is open for students who hold either a master’s degree, a diplo­ma, or a four-year bachelor’s degree (with written thesis). Candidates need to prove a strong qualitative background as well as interest and ability to conduct independent research. All courses, lectures and seminars at the GRK2062 are held in English. Thus, candidates have to be fluent in both written and spoken English.
