Laboratory Technician

The University of Luxembourg has the following vacancy in the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB):
Laboratory Technician (m/f)
  • Fixed-term contract 24 month, 40h/week

Area: Functional studies of Parkinson’s disease associated genes in patient-based cellular models
Your Role
The incumbent is member of the Clinical and Experimental Neuroscience laboratory (Head: Prof. Dr. Rejko Krüger) with a longstanding expertise in the field of functional neurogenomics in Parkinson’s disease (PD). She/he is in charge of maintenance of cell culture, especially patient-based models including inducible pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) and their differentiation to neuronal cells. Moreover she will perform high throughput screens on a high content imaging system to study the effect of small compunds on PD associated cellular phenotypes. This pilot project in collaboration with Khondrion is foreseen for a period of 6 months and driven by the milestones specified below.
Your tasks:
  • RNA/DNA extraction, cloning of plasmids and viral constructs
  • Real time PCR, Sequencing
  • Western blotting, immunoprecipitations
  • Cell culture (cell lines, primary cells, iPSC maintenance and differentiation)
  • FACS-based analyses for cellular phenotypes
  • Measurements of mitochondrial function via Seahorse technology
  • Optimization of workflows for high throughput screens (Opera system)
  • Contribution to general laboratory organisation (ordering, maintenance)
Your profile
  • A technical degree or equivalent in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, bioengineering, biology or similar
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good computer skills for standard software (Excel, Word, etc)
  • Flexible regarding research stays in collaborators’ research laboratories
  • Good working knowledge of English is an advantage
