The Heinrich Pette Institute - Leibniz Institute for Experimental Virology (HPI), is committed to research on the biology of different human viruses, the pathogenesis of viral diseases, the physiological defense reaction of organisms and associated problems (http://www.hpi-hamburg.de/en/). The HPI offers the opportunity to perform cutting-edge research in an extremely stimulating work environment equipped with state-of-the-art technology and an excellent animal facility.

We are looking for a highly motivated, team-oriented Master student of Biology/Biotechnology (or equivalent). Our position is to be filled for up to six month in the “Viral Immunology” group (head: Prof. Marcus Altfeld) with the possibility of extension. Our group is an international group, where the official language is English.

Work in the research group of Marcus Altfeld focuses on the characterization of protective immune responses against human pathogenic viruses (particularly HIV-1, hepatitis C and influenza viruses). The Master student will be involved in a project investigating the role of NK cells in the HIV-1 cure field.
