Interest and experience in microbial molecular biology techniques such as qPCR and modern population analyses are desired. Further, experience with the analytical determination of antibiotics is of advantage but no prerequisite.
The successful candidate will be expected to: a) study the absolute and relative abundance of clinically relevant antibiotic resistance genes and their carrier b) to characterize the impact of antibiotics and their transformation products on natural bacterial populations, c) apply analytical methods for the determination of antibiotics and their transformation products using LC-MS/MS, and d) modelling the interaction between evolution of antibiotic resistances and occurrence of antibiotics.
