PhD-student in the field of Neuroimmunology

 Uniklinik Freiburg  Freiburg
The Institute of Neuropathology at the University Medical Center Freiburg, invites applications for the position of a PhD-student in the field of Neuroimmunology, starting July 15th 2016.

Our laboratory uses a variety of state-of-the-art techniques in genetics, immunology and behavioural sciences to uncover the communication between neurons and microglia in the central nervous system (CNS) during both, physiological and inflammatory, conditions. For references see Goldmann et al, EMBO J, 2015, 34(12):1612-29; Blank et al, Immunity, 2016,44, (4), 901–912. The planned projects focus on functional aspects of brain macrophages-induced behavioral changes in response to activation of the innate immune system (e.g. IFN type I). We are using a broad spectrum of relevant in vitro and in vivo models, including constitutive and conditional mutant mouse models, immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, fluorescent activated cell sorting (FACS) combined with gene expression microarrays, RNA-Seq and ChIP-Seq.

We seek motivated and ambitious students and provide a well-equipped, interactive and international working environment. The applicant should hold a diploma degree (master) in Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry or a related field and should have a strong interest in life-science research.
Experience in molecular biology and immunology is beneficial but not mandatory.

How to apply:
Applications including a CV, as well as names and contact information of 2 referees should be send via e-mail.
