Scientific assistant – 50%

The Cell Biology and Epigenetics Group (Department of Biology) at the Technische Universität Darmstadt/Germany is looking for a

Scientific assistant – 50%

to start as soon as possible. The position is initially limited to a period of 3 years.

We seek ambitious, organized and motivated scientist to work in an interactive and interdisciplinary group with expertise on molecular biology, cell biology (mammalian systems, fluorescence live-cell microscopy, super-resolution microscopy), biochemistry (chromatin, protein purification, FPLC, etc.) and quantitative image analysis.

Activities and responsibilities

Projects:
- Duplication and maintenance of the genetic and epigenetic information. We study the spatio-temporal progression and control of genome replication and repair of DNA damage, as well as the dynamics of the factors involved in this process within the context of a living mammalian cell.
- Chromatin/Genome organization and mobility during cellular differentiation and loss of pluripotency and in desease. We investigate the role of DNA modification writers and readers in chromatin higher-order organization, their interaction partners and post-translational modifications.

Methodologically we combine in vitro biochemistry with molecular cell biology. The latter includes super-resolution light microscopy as well as studies of protein dynamics and interactions in living cells.

Qualification profile

The candidate must have a completed university degree in biology or another natural science, with a broad knowledge of biology and deepened knowledge in the area of the intended dissertation.

Benefits

Opportunity for further qualification (doctoral dissertation) is given. See our web page (cardoso-lab.org) for further information on our projects and publications.

The Technische Universität Darmstadt intends to increase the number of female employees and encourages female candidates to apply. In case of equal qualifications applicants with a degree of disability of at least 50 or equal will be given preference. Wages and salaries are according to the collective agreements on salary scales, which apply to the Technische Universität Darmstadt (TV-TU
Darmstadt).

Send application to

The application should include a cover letter, CV, copies of your certificates and two reference letters and should be submitted electronically all in one PDF with the reference number to: Prof. M. Cristina Cardoso, Technische Universität Darmstadt, Department of Biology, Schnittspahnstraße 10, 64287 Darmstadt, Germany. E-mail: Cardoso-lab@bio.tu-darmstadt.de
