Lab Manager / Research associate with MSc degree

The position is to be filled as soon as possible. Importantly, this position is suitable for individuals who want to have a long-term perspective in university-based research laboratories that perform biomedical research. The research activity of the Laboratory of Centrosome & Cytoskeleton Biology is to identify how centrosomes and cilia regulate organism development and diseases. The laboratory is well known in the field and has a strong publication record (Journal and year). The laboratory also recently established human brain organoids as a powerful in vitro system to study centrosome and cilium in 3D human organoids (Journal and year).

Your responsibilities:

The main tasks of the successful candidate are to co-ordinate and manage the research activities of the laboratory.

As a responsible person of the laboratory, you will carry out daily duties such as iPS cells and organoids maintenance and freezing, media preparation, as well as essential lab management (organization, ordering, databases, managing grants, and coordinating with the offices of Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf). He/she will utilize state-of-the-art genetic, molecular, and microscopy approaches, as well a newly optimized brain organoid culturing technologies.

Your profile:

Excellent University MSc or doctoral degree in biology/biomedicine/biochemistry/cell biology or related fields. Prior laboratory experience, proficiency with molecular biology techniques, strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a team. In terms of language, English is required and fluent German communication is prerequite to involve in university adminstration.


Previous experience with iPS and other cell culturing technologies are added advantages. The optimal candidate would also display an eagerness to work independently and to provide both intellectual and technical inputs to the assigned projects, as well as to work with the counterpart laboratories and administration offices at the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf.

For this position, we are looking for a research associate. The position will be initially available for one year with possible long-term prospects with several years of extension.
