Sales representative, Life Science (m/w)

The company develops and commercializes novel synthetic peptide-based materials invented at MIT for various medical applications in surgery, tissue regeneration, and drug delivery.

Sales representative M/W
Based in Germany
Reporting to the European Marketing Director, your primary responsibility is to generate sales in assigned geography. The current main indications of our products are in cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, gastro-intestinal surgery, and general/visceral surgery. These indications are expanded quickly. 
The Role:
- Introduce, demo, and train the company’s products to your existing medical, hospital and clinic contacts,
- Train and coach medical staff in the use of the products, and monitor and optimize continuously their use,
- Build and grow new relationships with surgeons, nurses, and hospitals to increase sales,
- Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management,
- Coordinate and collaborate with the company’s regional marketing support manager for distributors and with existing and new distributors; sales will usually be channeled through existing distributors for administration and logistics,
- Analyze business opportunities,
- Keep management informed by submitting periodical territory analysis as well as activity- and results reports and competition monitor,
- Participate in development of marketing material for the company, for distributors, for medical user, and for administrative contacts at hospitals and clinics and in team efforts for EU regulatory approvals,
- Participation in medical device conferences, travel to conferences, distributor demonstrations, surgeon training session.
The Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or equivalent degree
- You have previous sales and business development experience in the medical device industry, especially for consumable devices in the target markets
- You understand of how distributors work
- You have a large existing network of medical and administrative hospital- and clinic contacts in the targeted indication in order to generate sales in short term
- You have worked previously for a small company and a work experience in a foreign country is much valued
- Skills and competencies: pioneering/explorative, self-starter, team player, closing deals, take ownership of responsibilities, high degree of flexibility
- Travelling up to 75% of time, mostly domestic, occasionally within Europe for training and conferences, or even in the US and Asia.
If desired, this is a position with potential to change to marketing support for distributors and a more leading role after one or two years.
