PhD Position in Translational Stem Cell Research

A PhD position is available at the Institute of Reconstructive Neurobiology (Head: Professor Oliver Brüstle), University of Bonn Medical School, Germany.
The work will be carried out in the Research Group of PD Dr. med. Philipp Koch
The group is interested in the analysis of pathophysiological changes associated with neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders using culture systems based on induced pluripotent stem cells generated by cellular reprogramming or directly converted neurons from somatic cells. Work will include the cultivation of induced pluripotent stem cells, neural differentiation and assessment of phenotypic changes by molecular and biomedical analysis. Applied methods are: cell culture techniques, Western blot, RT-PCR, immunocytochemical analysis and microscopy.
The Institute for Reconstructive Neurobiology is embedded in the Bonn Neuo-Campus. Here, top notch neuroscience reserach institutes, clinical departments and the German Center for Neurodegenerative Disease (DZNE) are located building a vibrant neuro research community.
