PhD-student position (Retinal Immunology), Chair of Experimental Immunology of the Eye at the University Hospital Cologne

The Chair of Experimental Immunology of the Eye is seeking applications for a full-time
 
PhD-student position (Retinal Immunology)
 
 

to be employed immediately under an initially 2 year limited-time contract (third party funded).
 
The Chair of Experimental Immunology of the Eye is an independent division of the Cologne Center for Ophthalmology with a strong research focus on innate immune activation in the diseased retina. The laboratory is a leading institution for experimental immunology centered around age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and rare monogenic retinal dystrophies including retinitis pigmentosa.
 
Your responsibilities will include:
  • To validate a previously identified anti-inflammatory candidate compound in different murine and human microglia cells
  • To elicate the mechanisms of action and to perform in vivo therapy studies in key animal models of human age-related macular degeneration
 
Your qualifications:
  • Candidates should be highly motivated with a strong interest in neuroimmunology and experimental ophthalmology
  • Candidates should hold a master’s degree in Biology, Bio-Medicine, Neuroscience or a related subject
  • Experiences with animal models, cell culture techniques and molecular biology techniques are advantageous
 
Your salary will be based on TV-L.
