At our location in Germany we are currently searching for a

Scientist Downstream Process Technology (m/f/div)

Our R&D location in Jülich, Germany, focusses on cell line,media and early process development with corresponding analytical method development to advance Alvotech´s very attractive biosimilar portfolio (monoclonal antibodies and fusion proteins to biologics blockbusters). As part of the Process Technology (DSP) team, we are searching for a Scientist Downstream process technology.

Key responsibilities and work assignments:

  • Utilize a QbD (quality by design) and DoE (design of experiment) approach to develop, scale up, and troubleshooting of downstream processing of different protein types (monoclonal antibodies, fusion proteins).
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation of lab activities and write appropriate technical reports in compliance with Alvotechs quality system.
  • Provide technical and scientific guidance and feedback to team members, contributing to a multi-skilled and engaged Process Technology team.
  • Maintain leading-edge knowledge and understanding of new technologies and innovations in the field of protein purification, develop these techniques and proactively share knowledge with other departments.
  • Ensure the DSP development labs and equipment are maintained under optimal working conditions.
  • Contribute to investigations (e.g. deviations) as required, to help identify root cause and assign appropriate corrective actions.
  • Support tech transfer with manufacturing organizations (internal and external), scale up, troubleshooting, process changes and related development activities.
  • Support manufacturing campaigns as subject matter expert (SME).
  • As a Subject Matter Expert, contribute to successful commercial inspections quality audits and any other interaction with local and international health authorities as required.

Reporting line:

You will be part of the Downstream Process Technology team and report to the Senior Director Process Technologies. The position currently includes one direct report (downstream technician) with potential to expand the team in due course.

Your profile:

  • Preferably qualified to PhD level in a relevant scientific discipline and relevant industry experience. (More industry experience required if no PhD degree.)
Experience and knowledge:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in downstream processing of proteins.
  • Scientific knowledge and understanding of downstream purification, monoclonal antibodies and recombinant protein therapeutic products.
  • Hands-on experience with Design of Experiment (DOE) software.
  • Substantial, practical expertise in handling Äkta (e.g. Avant 25) and corresponding software (Unicorn).
  • Knowledge of chromatography principles/techniques and new technologies in that field.Knowledge/experience of running and reporting complex experiments.
  • Ability to report technical information in a written and verbal format in a timely manner.

Je nach Erfahrung und Qualifikation, sowie weiteren Faktoren kann dieser Schätzwert in unterschiedlichem Maße von der tatsächlich zu erwartenden Vergütung abweichen.
