Industrial internship as Researcher Assistant

We are looking for a highly motivated student for an internship providing an opportunity to apply skills in a very concrete research setting. The student is preferred majoring in biotechnology / biochemistry / phytochemistry and in analytical chemistry. Good skill working in sterile environment (clean bench) and with in-vitro plant cell culture systems like bioreactors would be appreciated (not mandatory).
The aims of the study will be plant cell/micro-algae cultivation to find some optimal cell culture conditions to produce active extracts/metabolites for pharmaceutical or cosmetic use.
The work will mainly consists in:
  • In-vitro cell suspension culture with elicitations and bioconversion experimentations,  cell biomass extractions and fractionations with HPLC and HPTLC analysis.
  • Use of robotized equipments for biochemical/enzymatic activity tests and experimental design.
  • Computer assisted treatments of results and experimental design         
  • Production process validation by scale up in bioreactors systems        
  • Bibliographic research, oral presentations and reporting, scientific monitoring  
Internships in our lab are remunerated and take 6 months. The student is expected to start in January or February 2016. The student is expected to work a minimum of 35 hours per week.

We have a lot of experience working with master and diploma students and we are able to deal easily with foreign student and English language even though our daily speaking language is French. All oral presentation and written reporting will be strictly confidential as the student will be in a private framework however the student will be allowed to present his/her work only to his/her Professor in order to obtain his/her Master degree.
Our lab is located at the Pierre Fabre Research and Development Center at the Toulouse Oncopole campus (south suburb of TOULOUSE-France). As part of, the research and development hub for dermo-cosmetic active substances brings together researchers with a range of expertises. The team’s objective is to identify and develop innovative active substances and to validate their efficacy for use in dermo-cosmetic products. They cooperate with, among others, the Pierre and Marie Curie University (Paris VI) and the CNRS as part of a mixed research team located at the Oceanological Observatory in Banyuls-sur-Mer (on the Mediterranean Sea).

VERY IMPORTANT : This offer is only for students completing their second year of Master by doing an internship as part of a training agreement (later on between their university and the company Pierre Fabre)
