We are offering a Ph.D. position (TVL E13/2) at the Albrecht-von-Haller-Institute for Plant Sciences (Georg-August-Universität (GAU) Göttingen).
Our laboratory is interested in the signal transduction events that are elicited after attack of higher plants by pathogens. Two competing resistance responses are elicited depending of whether a plant is attacked by a pathogen that kills cells to obtain nutrients or by a pathogen that retrieves nutrients from living cells. We are working with a class of bZIP transcription factors that are involved in the activation of both defense programms and which mediate the cross-talk between them. We aim to identify novel proteins that interact with these bZIP transcription factors using yeast screens and approaches based on the pull-down of interacting partners from plant extracts. Applicants should have a strong background (Diplom or Master) in molecular methods.
The University aims to increase the number of female staff employed and expressly requests applications from qualified women. Disabled persons will be considered preferentially in the case of equal aptitude.
Written applications with a curriculum vitae and the summary of the Diploma or Master Thesis should be submitted electronically to the address below no later than March 1st.
