Institut für Molekulare Zellbiologie
Universität Münster
One position for a PhD student (TVL-13/2) is available in the group of Prof. Dr. Andreas Püschel starting November 2010 or later to investigate neuronal differentiation using live cell imaging techniques. The position is available for 3 years.
We are interested in the molecular and cellular processes that mediate the differentiation of neurons. The aim of the project is to understand the pathways that regulate cytoskeletal dynamics and polarized transport during the differentiation of cortical and hippocampal neurons. We are particularly interested in the function of signaling pathways that regulate different GTPases and kinases during the establishment of neuronal polarity. The project will employ a combination of molecular, cell biological, and genetic techniques (including RNA interference and knockout mice) to study differentiation in cultured neurons by high resolution live cell imaging.
We are looking for highly motivated students of any nationality with an interest in life cell imaging and some experience in biochemistry, biology, cell biology, molecular biology or neurobiology. We offer an attractive and broad spectrum of methods, well-equipped labs with state-of-the-art facilities and excellent supervision.
Applications can be sent until August 31 to Dr. Andreas Püschel: apuschel@uni-muenster.de. Institut für Molekulare Zellbiologie, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Schlossplatz 5, 48149 Münster
