Student (m/f/d) for a Final Thesis in the Field of Airline Scheduling and Climate Impact Mitigation
Activities and responsibilities
- In your thesis you will conduct a systematic literature review as a basis for identifying existing approaches, modelling elements, and research gaps related to contrail mitigation through airline operational measures
- You will analyse relevant modelling approaches with respect to their decision variables, constraints, objectives, data requirements, solution algorithms, and mitigation potential
- Additionally, you will identify in which stages of the airline planning process contrail-aware measures can be integrated
- Finally, a test dataset will be given to you, and you will have to explore the potential influence of flight rescheduling on contrail formation. Based on this analysis, you will illustrate how contrail-aware considerations could be integrated into airline scheduling models
Qualification profile
- You are an enrolled student (m/f/d) at TUM in Transportation Systems Engineering or a related field
