We are looking for an exceptionally qualified and highly motivated
(Senior) Mass Spectrometry Specialist (m/f/d)
to join our Mass Spectrometry team based on our ISO9001:2015 certified & GCLP accredited facility at Proteome Sciences R&D GmbH & Co. KG in Frankfurt am Main.In this role, you will serve as the core technical anchor and operational subject matter expert for our Mass Spectrometry laboratory. You will combine deep technical expertise in LC-MS instrumentation and quantitative proteomics with strong project management, workflow optimization, and technical coordination responsibilities, driving technical excellence across client projects.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Independent operation, calibration, routine maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography (nano-LC) equipment.
- Development, optimization, and execution of quantitative LC-MS methods (including TMT, DIA, DDA, and targeted studies) for client projects and R&D.
- Diligent tracking and initial quality control of MS raw data in close interaction with the Bioinformatics and wet-lab team.
- Technical consulting and contribution to client communications, including project proposals, data presentations, and technical reports.
- Guidance and technical support for laboratory personnel to maintain high operational standards and best laboratory practices.
- Ensuring strict compliance of MS procedures with ISO9001:2015 and GCLP requirements.
Required:
- Experience in a professional industrial environment (Masters: 5+ years, Bachelors: 10+ years or equivalent combination of vocation training and experience), preferably within a CRO environment, operating & maintaining HRLC-MS systems analyzing biological matricies for large molecules.
- Strong hands-on experience and deep technical knowledge of nano LC and Orbitrap MS including advanced instrument operation and troubleshooting is a requirement.
- Preferred experience will include a solid understanding of quantitative MS techniques (e.g., TMT, DIA, DDA, PRM) applied to peptides and proteins,
- Exceptional candidates will possess a knowledge of proteomic data processing software (e.g., Proteome Discoverer, Skyline, DIA-NN)
- Robust project coordination, time management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent technical documentation skills and readiness to contribute to client reports and presentations.
- Clear and proficient communication in written and spoken English.
Advantageous for the role:
- First exposure to technical leadership, mentoring junior team members, or managing project workflows.
- Working knowledge or fluency in German.
- Familiarity with quality management requirements (ISO 9001, GxP).
- Practical knowledge of programming and/or scripting tools such as Python and R.
