The Experimental and Translational Ophthalmology Department of the University Medical Centre of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is a leading eye research laboratory in Germany that focuses on the pathogenesis of various ophthalmic diseases. Our department features well-equipped ophthalmic imaging (OCT, FFA) and electrophysiological (ERG) examination systems, as well as a state-of-the-art protein microarray and mass spectrometry system for protein profiling and biomarker identification (

Master Thesis in Diabetic Retinopathy (m/f/d)
Activities and responsibilities
- Characterization of fundamental mechanisms underlying diabetic retinopathy using animal models, ophthalmic imaging and retina immunostaining.
Qualification profile
- Student in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or similar fields of natural sciences
- Proficient in English
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Conscientious and keen to learn new techniques
