In accordance with § 2 WissZeitVG and § 72 HessHG, the position is to be filled on a fixed-term basis at the Institute of Plant Physiology at the faculty of Biology and Chemistry with the opportunity for own academic qualification. The salary is in accordance with the collective labour agreement of the State of Hessen (E 13 TV-H).
As long as the maximum permissible duration of a fixed-term contract is not exceeded, you will be employed for an initial period of 3 years. An extension for up to another 2 years is possible under the above-mentioned condition.
The research project focuses on the function of the plant red-light receptor phytochrome. Among other things, it aims to elucidate the regulation of the nuclear translocation of the activated photoreceptor phytochrome A in Arabidopsis thaliana using molecular biological, cell biological, biochemical, and biophysical/structural methods.

Activities and responsibilities
- Opportunity for own academic and didactic qualification (doctoral thesis), activities in research and teaching according to § 72 HessHG
- Taking on teaching duties according to the teaching obligation ordinance of the state of Hessen, in BSc, MSc, and teacher training programs
- Supervision of BSc and MSc projects and other student projects
- Research activities, especially molecular-biological and biochemical methods for studying the plant photoreceptor phytochrome
- Collaboration with partners in single-molecule microscopy, mass spectrometry, and structural biochemistry as well as bioinformatics
- Presentation of research findings at conferences/meetings
Qualification profile
- Completed Master‘s or equivalent university degree in biology, biochemistry or molecular biology, with a focus on molecular plant physiology/genetics
- Knowledge of molecular cell biology is required; experience with protein biochemistry and imaging techniques is advantageous
- Fluent English skills (written and spoken) and the ability to work in a team are required
- Publication activity, active participation in conferences, and willingness to travel
- Interest in interdisciplinary issues
