A position for a talented and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher is available in the Translational Dementia Research group led by Anja Schneider. The successful applicant will work on blood biomarker projects in different neurodegenerative diseases. We have recently shown, that plasma extracellular vesicle (EV) TDP-43 and Tau content can serve as a biomarker to detect the underlying molecular pathology in Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) (Chatterjee et al., Nat. Med., accepted). In follow-up projects, we will focus on discovery, validation, and implementation of EV-based biomarkers in different neurodegenerative diseases, covering aspects of early preclinical diagnosis, staging, monitoring of disease progression and treatment response. We are using different methods of EV isolation followed by immunoassays, such as ELISA, SIMOA, and MSD.
We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual with a background in neuroscience, (neuro-)immunology, and biomarker development.
