The research group of Prof. Dr. Franziska Theilig (Cardiovascular and Renal research) is working on the development and progression of diabetic nephropathy and FSGS as well as the development of hypertension and edema formation as a consequence of kidney diseases.
As a part of our DFG-funded project regarding the impact of epigenetic modifications on preconditioning the diabetic nephropathy, we are seeking for an outstanding and highly motivated candidate for a Research Assistant position to support us.

Research Assistant (PhD position in Renal Research)
to begin in January 2027, running for three years. The position is compensated equal to 65% E 13 TV-L.
The research group of Prof. Dr. Franziska Theilig (Cardiovascular and Renal research) is working on the development and progression of diabetic nephropathy and FSGS as well as the development of hypertension and edema formation as a consequence of kidney diseases.
As a part of our DFG-funded project regarding the impact of epigenetic modifications on preconditioning the diabetic nephropathy, we are seeking for an outstanding and highly motivated candidate for a Research Assistant position to support us.
Activities and responsibilities
Your responsibilities:
- Sample preparation for RNA-, ATAC-, RRB- or ChIP-sequencing and data analysis
- Participation in animal experiments, physiological and morphological analyses of conditional knockout mouse models combined with in vitro experimental approaches
Qualification profile
Your profile:
- Candidates with a Master or Diploma in Bioinformatics, Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry, Medicine, Cell or Molecular Biology or a closely related field
- Bioinformatic experiences or strong interest in OMIC data evaluation
- Programming skills
- Basic understanding of mammalian cells, cell culturing, animal experiments and research
- Fluency in written as well as spoken English
- Good communication skills
