The project “A10 - The role of the γ-chain cytokines-STAT5 axis for epithelial barrier function and intestinal inflammation” is part of the Collaborative Research Centre TTR241 “Immune-Epithelial Communication in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases”, a major German research consortium (Berlin - Innsbruck - Kiel - Erlangen) recently been approved for the 3rd funding period.

Activities and responsibilities
The PhD candidate will investigate mechanisms linking STAT5-deficiency in lymphocytes to epithelial barrier integrity and colonic inflammation by analyzing conditional STAT5 knockout models in steady state and during induced DSS colitis as well as the T cell epithelial crosstalk in murine and human samples.

- Multi-color flow cytometry
- Advanced mouse genetics
- Induced colitis mouse models
- Analysis in RNA-sequencing data
- Organoid culture systems
- Standard molecular biology methods
Qualification profile
Your Profile:
- Completed Master's degree (or equivalent) in immunology, molecular biology, molecular medicine or related disciplines
- Strong interest in translational research
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Structured working style
- Team-oriented mindset as you will work in a working group with more than 15 colleagues and collaborate with several groups associated to the TRR241 consortium
- Knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques such as IHC, PCR, histology, cell culture or flow cytometry
- Experience in working with mice (Felasa B) and basic knowledge of bioinformatics is advantageous
- Possible starting date: as soon as possible
