Project: Plant cell walls represent a structural barrier against the penetration of plant-pathogenic fungi. Moreover, the detection of cell wall damage activates intracellular signaling pathways that are coordinated with defense signaling. This project aims to investigate how specific cell wall properties influence these defense mechanisms. Activities and responsibilities
- Scientific services in research and teaching
- Analysis of cell wall properties in Arabidopsis signaling mutants during pathogen interaction
- Investigation of cell wall composition- and signalling-dependent defence responses at pathogen entry sites
Qualification profile
- MSc-degree or equivalent in Biology, Biochemistry or a related discipline
- MSc thesis with a focus on molecular biology, genetics, plant physiology or bioanalytics
- Strong written and spoken English skills
- A creative, analytical and critical mindset, the ability to work independently and to further develop the project is expected
- Previous practical experience in confocal laser-scanning microscopy, HPLC analysis, RNA-Sequencing or plant-pathogen interaction is of advantage
